A north Kerry councillor says he hopes the recount of votes in the Listowel Electoral Area can take place as soon as possible.
Jimmy Moloney of Fianna Fail is one of seven sitting councillors facing the recount following a Supreme Court judgement last month.
A case taken by Independent candidate, Dan Kiely, led to an instruction by the court to count all of the ballots cast again which could potentially lead to a different result.
Cllr Moloney says the issue has been hanging over the heads of the seven councillors for a year and a half and the direction of the local circuit court is now awaited.
