The Centre for Faith Equality is using Irish equality legislation and a recent planning decision of Kerry County Council as part of its case
The Centre for Faith Equality is a secular organisation whose stated aim is to secure equality across all religious faiths in Ireland.
Radio Kerry understands that a recent planning decision by Kerry County Council to prohibit the broadcast of the call to prayer as one of the conditions of granting permission of new mosque in Tralee forms part of its case.
The Dublin based centre is campaigning to ban the ringing of church bells and states that the council decision creates a precedent in this area.
A spokesperson for the centre was unavailable for comment but it is believed the case has been lodged with the European Court of Human Rights.
