The late baby Karol Rozycki was remembered at a special Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney last evening.

Cathedral3His mother Anna, along with her family, friends, and colleagues from the Aghadoe Heights Hotel were present, along with members of the public from Killarney who were shocked by the incident.

The special Mass for baby Karol and his family took place last evening at St Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney, and was celebrated by Fr Piotr Delimat, the Polish chaplain seconded from the Archdiocese of Kraków serving the Diocese of Kerry, as well as Parish Priest of Killarney, Fr Kieran O’Brien.

The Mass was held in the absence of Baby Karol’s body; his funeral is to take place in Poland at a later date.

Fr Kieran O’Brien spoke about how Baby Karol brightened up his family’s lives in his short 11 months.

Fr O’Brien offered sympathies to Baby Karol’s mother Anna who was present, and said he hoped they would lighten her burden in whatever way possible.

Fr Piotr Delimat said Karol’s death had brought together the Irish and Polish communities in Killarney.

Several gifts were brought to the altar, including a picture of Baby Karol, some of his toys, and candles – which were lit by his mother Anna to form a shrine to the infant.
