A Killorglin man whose home was broken into in recent months is calling for tougher bail restrictions for repeat offenders.

In June, 800 euro was stolen from Gene Aherne’s home in the middle of the day.

Gene’s wife Helen walked in on the burglars as they were robbing the house; they made their escape through the back garden.

Gene has now spent around 3,000 euro on security equipment for his home including cameras.
