« BackKillarney honour for Michael Fassbender

Actor Michael Fassbender is to be honoured by his home town of Killarney.

The 39 year old is to be inducted to the Order of Innisfallen in recognition of his achievements in the film industry.

"Michael_Fassbender." by Gage Skidmore is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0 Michael Fassbender is to receive the honour from the towns Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and the Killarney Municipal Area for helping to boost Killarney’s profile on a world stage by his success.

This includes nominations for Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTA’s.

The award will be presented at a reception in Killarney on October 7th which will be followed the inaugural Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce gala black tie ball at the Europe Hotel.

The Order of Innisfallen is presented annually to recipients who have made a significant contribution to the economy of Killarney.

Previous recipients include Daniel O Donnell, Isolde Liebherr and the former Head of Tourism Ireland in Europe Margaret Cahill.
