« BackKillarney Gardaí say there could be arrests in Charles Brooke Pickard investigation

Charles Brooke PickardGardaí in Killarney say they have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests in the new investigation into the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard.

Mr Brooke Pickard diappeared from Castlecove in April 1991.


A witness reported seeing Mr Brooke Pickard being bundled into a van at the time he disappeared in 1991.

The van was later found burned out but there was no evidence to help in locating Mr Brooke Pickard.

Extensive searches involving army and Garda personnel have been taking place in Derrennageeha, Ballaghisheen near Waterville over the last two weeks. The operation was put in place following a recent television appeal for new information.

There were a number of arrests in the immediate aftermath of the abduction but none in recent years.

Supt Flor Murphy said that the investigation is very much ongoing and Gardaí certainly now have a clearer picture of the events surrounding the abduction.

He said that Gardaí will be interviewing a number of people as the investigation progresses and he could not rule out the possibility of further arrests.

The search operation is continuing and is likely to continue into next week.
