The INMO is disputing claims by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform that 1,000 new nurses have been recruited to the HSE in recent times.

The union is holding its annual conference in the INEC in Killarney.

Phil Ní Sheaghdha from Ventry is the nursing union’s director of industrial relations.

She says figures they’ve gotten from the HSE show that closer to 200 new nurses have been recruited.

She says the HSE is having difficulties both recruiting and holding on to staff.
