« BackKillarney awarded full renewal of its Purple Flag status

Killarney has retained its prestigious Purple Flag status indicating a safe and entertaining night time environment.

The Purple Flag is a town and city centre award in Ireland and the UK – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – which aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 5pm and 5am.

There was a full assessment of Killarney’s night-time economy in August, and the town has passed, retaining its flag.

Chairman of the Killarney Purple Flag Working Group Paul O’Neill says the assessors were particularly impressed with Killarney House and Gardens, and remarked it would be a major asset in offering evening services.
