« BackKerry’s Live Register jumps 4 per cent

Social WelfareKerry’s Live Register has risen by four per cent in a month.

The Central Statistics Office data shows that almost 11,700 (11,693) people signed on in the county in November.

The latest statistics mark a decrease of 9 per cent when compared with November 2014.

The biggest jump in the past month was seen in Killarney where almost 300 extra people signed on.

The end of the tourist season may account for the spike; 1,846 people signed on at the Killarney office last month.

Dingle increased by over 100 to 731, there was a rise of 95 in Kenmare to 434 and around 50 more people brought Caherciveen’s total to 471.

There were more slight monthly increases in Listowel and Killorglin to bring their registers to 2,244 and 924 respectively.

Finally, Tralee has bucked the trend with a drop of 50 people but still has the highest number of sign ons in the county at 5,043.
