A Kerry woman, whose brother is a patient in a mental health facility, has raised concerns about the impact of a proposed ban on smoking at all HSE facilities.
The new policy comes into effect next January and the HSE has urged the families of concerned patients to contact them. The Psychiatric Nurses’ Association has called for the ban to be reconsidered as it will lead to more anxiety, frustration and agitation among patients in mental health care units.
