« BackKerry Volunteer Centre launches Election Manifesto

kerry volunteer centreThe Kerry Volunteer Centre is calling on voters to keep their communities in mind when casting their ballot in this year’s General Election.

According to centre manager Geraldine Sheehan, volunteering needs to be kept on the agenda of the next government.

Funding for the sector has dropped by as much as 40% since 2009 and an election manifesto has been developed by the KVC and other volunteer centres asking candidates  to endorse five key policy areas.

These include: a government strategy on volunteering, the restoration of funding and to ensure those in receipt of social benefits are aware that they can volunteer.

They are also calling for research on volunteering and the enactment of the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012.
