A Tralee representative of the traveller community says he is disgusted with some online comments following the Carrickmines tragedy.

Martin Mahon is vice chair of Kerry Travellers Health and Community Development Project. He believes the attitude towards re-accommodating the families who survived the halting site fire that claimed the lives of five adults and five children would be different if they were from the settled community. He says when a traveller does something wrong the whole community is blamed but when a settled person does something wrong it’s just them and their family that is associated with the action. Describing a particular online comment 21 year old Martin Mahon says he cried with anger:
