« BackKerry TD will declare council severance payment on Register of Members’ Interest

A Kerry TD says he will declare his council severance payment on Register of Members’ Interest.
Deputy Tom Fleming is among 14 TDs who did not declare their former positions as councillors in the register.
The Dáil Committee on Members’ Interests found the deputies had breached regulations by not declaring their former council jobs.
This is because they received their severance gratuity payments after they became TDs which meant they were obliged to declare them.
The South Kerry Independent TD received almost 50,000 euro for 20 years’ service as a councillor.
Deputy Fleming said many TDs were confused about the situation as there were no clear directions from Dáil Éireann.
