A Kerry TD has welcomed the decision by the HSE to approve funding for Fampyra, a drug used to treat multiple sclerosis.
Deputy Brendan Griffin previously tabled a debate in the Dáil on the issue.
Fine Gael Deputy Brendan Griffin welcomed the decision by the HSE, which he says will benefit many MS patients in Kerry and nationwide.
Research indicates that Fampyra can have a positive impact on people living with MS.
Deputy Griffin says the decision, by the HSE to award funding, comes after lengthy negotiations with the manufacturer, Biogen Idec.
He said the decision will give ‘security’ to people and he hopes people currently benefitting from Fampyra will experience the positive effects of the drug into the future.
