John Brassil from Fianna FáilA Kerry TD has slammed An Bord Pleanála for disregarding the County Development Plan in giving the go ahead for a controversial windfarm.

In October 2014, Kerry County Council refused an application by Stacks Mountain Windfarm Limited for a ten turbine windfarm at Ballyhorgan South and East, Irramore, Lissahane, and Muckenagh because it could create a significant visual intrusion in the landscape.

The company appealed this to An Bord Pleanála, who after 20 months, has now granted permission.

Several protest meetings were held by locals who are concerned about the height of the turbines.

Kerry Fianna Fáil Deputy John Brassil is disappointed and disillusioned with the decision by the board of An Bord Pleanála to grant permission against the recommendations of Kerry County Council and their own inspector.
