A Kerry TD has expressed concern at the shortage of Gardaí in a local station.

John Brassil from Fianna FáilDeputy John Brassil says the numbers of Gardaí in Ballybunion Garda Station has been reduced from eight to three in recent years due to maternity, sick leave and retirement.

The Fianna Fáil TD claims the number of Gardaí currently in the town is insufficient as it faces into the summer season, which will see the population of the town significantly increase.

Deputy Brassil adds if the issue is not addressed, there will be a deficit of cover in North Kerry.
