« BackKerry Sinn Fein branch want Seafarer’s Allowance Scheme reviewed

Sinn Fein logoAccording to Sinn Fein it is estimated that only 20% of registered seafarers in Ireland qualified for the Seafarer´s Allowance Scheme in its present state.

A Kerry branch has put forward a motion at Sinn Fein’s Ard Fheis to have a review of the scheme to make sure that it is made more widely available.

Kerry Comhairle Ceantair is proposing that Seafarers aboard fishing vessels no longer be explicitly excluded from the Seafarer´s Allowance.

They also want a review under the scheme on the definition of what constitutes an ‘international voyage’.
