A Kerry senator has accused Ryanair boss, Michael O’Leary, of being the ‘ugly face of capitalism’.
Fianna Fáil’s Ned O’Sullivan was reacting to reports that the airline CEO had criticised the public sector, trade unions and RTE at a Fine Gael event.
It’s reported that Mr O’Leary, while praising gardaí in general, said those planning to strike should be sacked.
He likened RTE to a “rat-infested North Korean union shop.”
Mr O’Leary is due to address a Fianna Fáil event next month.
Fianna Fáil senator Mark Daly condemned him but wouldn’t call on his party to withdraw its invite to Mr. O’Leary.
Senator Daly’s party colleague, Senator Ned O’Sullivan, says Mr O’Leary is a highly successful businessman who revolutionised air travel to make it accessible to all.
However, he says his comments were unacceptable.
