Kerry senator Marie Moloney says a colleague’s e-mail to a constituent echoes her anger about cuts to lone parents’ payments.

There were reportedly angry scenes at the Labour parliamentary party meeting earlier this week over changes to allowances for single parents.
Senator Moloney says she is concerned about reducing the income of lone parents and says that reform of the social welfare system shouldn’t mean the loss of money.
She says Emmet Stagg’s correspondence to a constituent – which outlined his opposition to the changes – echoes her views:

Meanwhile, Senator Marie Moloney is preparing a bill to make it compulsory to register personal details when purchasing a SIM card for a phone.
She says that anyone buying a pre-paid SIM card should register their name and address to allow any potential malicious calls or text messages to be traced.
