Kerry postmasters are to engage in two working groups in order to map the future role of the post office.
The Irish Postmasters Union established the groups after meeting in Portlaoise to discuss the Bobby Kerr-led report on the future of the network.
The first working group aims to develop a detailed a five year strategy.
The second will oversee a pilot programme to develop rural Post Offices as local ‘Service Hubs’.
Ceann Trá postmaster Seamus Ó Luing – who attended the IPU meeting in Portlaoise – said Kerry postmasters will have to see “what will come out” of the working groups – in relation to the adoption of the Kerr report.
