Kerry people are at a higher risk of developing skin cancer due to it being a coastal county; that’s according to Dr Johnny Burke.
To combat the particularly high rates of skin cancer in the county, the HSE is hosting a free walk-in clinic this coming weekend in University Hospital Kerry.
The cancer screening will take place in the Out-Patients department of University Hospital Kerry on Saturday from 9.30 to 11am.
The initiative is part of Euro-Melanoma, a pan-European prevention campaign against skin cancer.
Dr Burke, consultant dermatologist in the Bon Secours hospital, says skin cancer is very treatable when diagnosed early.
