Kerry people are among the most compliant when it comes to paying their TV licence fees.

According to the Irish Daily Star, just under 7% of homes in Kerry do not pay the annual €160 fee, compared with a national average of 14%.

The number of TV licenses sold in recent years has fallen due to changing viewing habits, however, the number of people prosecuted has risen substantially.

A new initiative by TV license inspectors aims to recoup a €40 million shortfall in fees.
