« BackKerry Mountain Rescue Team assist injured climber on Macgillycuddy’s Reeks

Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were involved in the rescue of a climber on the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks today.

Valentia Coast Guard Radio Station were alerted at around twenty past one this afternoon that a woman had got into difficulty at the top of the Devil’s ladder.

Shannon helicopter Rescue 115 was tasked to the area along with Kerry Mountain Rescue Team.

The women was airlifted to Kerry University Hospital but due to cloud cover at the hospital the helicopter had to divert to Shannon base, where she will be brought by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.

The women is believed to have sustained a suspected broken ankle and hand, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening however.

Meanwhile Valentia Coast Guard assisted in the rescue of a 36 foot Fishing Vessel this afternoon after it got into difficulty just 300 meters off the rocks at Dunworley Point in West Cork.

The fishing vessel sent out a Mayday distress call at around 2pm.

It got into trouble while fishing and was heading for dangerous rocks.

It was towed to safety by the Courtmacsherry RNLI.
