« BackKerry man wins big at European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Championships

Alan Gleeson Listowel -Transplant Team Ireland 2016 2Kerry man Alan Gleeson has helped Transplant Team Ireland to win more medals on the final events day at the 9th European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Championships in Vantaa, Finland.

Early this morning Mr Gleeson, from Listowel, secured Gold in the 200m sprint.

Alan, who is stationed as a Garda in Dublin, had to pull out of the final relay team race having won a heat earlier today.

He had to leave the track for his scheduled dialysis treatment and missed the opportunity to take part in the 4 x 100m relay final after he along with his relay teammates got through to the qualifying heat earlier this morning.

Fellow Kerry man Stephen Byrne from Tralee also took part in a 200m race in an older age category this morning and crossed the finish line in 5th position.

Alan who yesterday won a Gold medal in the 100m sprint and a Silver in the Long jump event, said he is delighted with his achievements this weekend:
