Kerry is losing out on Sports Capital Grant funding.
That’s according to Fianna Fáil TD John Brassil, who says new analysis undertaken by his party reveal the county has fallen well behind the national average.
Despite boasts major funding had been secured for sports clubs and communities across Kerry by the previous Government, between 2011-2015, figures show the county received 51% less than the Taoiseach’s own constituency.
Deputy Brassil says, on average, Mayo received €7,300 for every 1,000 residents, while Kerry was allocated €3,600 for the past five years.
The Kerry TD adds the severe delay in the allocation of Sports Capital Funding for 2016 is now a major concern for various sports clubs and organisations.
