Some farmers could go broke if the current low milk prices persist.
The Chairman of Kerry IFA Seán Brosnan says the intervention price of 21 cent a litre needs to be raised so that the cost of production is not higher than the sale price which is currently 25 cent per litre.
Farmers are now looking to Europe and EU Farm Commissioner, Phil Hogan.
If the low price persists for the next six months it could also become a major election issue.
The drop in price is down to excessive production in America.
