« BackKerry harbours, piers and slipways to benefit from €476,250 capital works package

Almost half a million in funding has been allocated to local authority owned slipways and harbours in Kerry.

Minister of Marine Simon Coveney announced details of the €4.5 million capital works package which includes funding for storm repair, in addition to ongoing development.

The department co-funds up to 75% of approved projects with local authorities providing the balance.

Ballinskelligs Pier and Fenit Pier have been allocated €112,500 apiece, while Renard Pier will receive €90,000. €45,000 has been earmarked for Scraggane Pier.

Cahersiveen Pier is to receive €3,750 in addition to €60,000 funding for aid to navigation works on Kay Rock in the Cahersiveen River approach to the marina.

€30,000 has been allocated for the upgrade of visitor moorings in Ventry, Kells, Derrynane and Sneem while €22,500 is to be spend on upgrading aids to navigation network along Kenmare River.
