Figures released by Met Eireann show Valentia Observatory recorded 25 dull days during June, July and August.
Valentia Observatory recorded 25 dull days during the three summer months, the highest total throughout the national weather stations.
Nationally, there was significantly less sunshine during the summer months when compared to the springtime.
Despite this, Valentia Observatory recorded temperatures 0.4 degrees Celsius higher than the long-term summer average, a trend that was repeated nationwide.
The highest temperature recorded during summer 2016 was 30.4 degrees Celsius, which was recorded at Mount Dillion, Roscommon on July 19th.
Meanwhile, rainfall levels were at 96% of the long-term average at Valentia Observatory.
However, rainfall levels were slightly above average nationally.
