A group set up in Kerry to collect donations for migrants stranded in camps across Europe says they have been inundated with donations.
Help for Humans Kerry is now seeking an industrial unit or dry barn to store and sort the donations.
The organisation which is currently registering for official charity status has also received help from two haulage companies, one in Dublin and McAulliffe’s Transport in Castleisland.
Both have offered a truck and drivers to transport donations from Kerry to Greece.
Tony Tailor Smith is a spokesman for Help for Humans Kerry:
Meanwhile, the Kerry to Calais group is collecting donations for a convoy to the camps in Calais.
Collections will take place at Ballycasheen Industrial estate beside Bowlers garage from 3 to 6pm tomorrow and from 10am – 6pm on Saturday 19th.
In particular donations of tarpaulins, heavy duty Rubbish bags, 4 person tents, blankets and sleeping bags, men’s clothes: specifically, small to medium to sized warm clothes, shoes, runners, wellies, candles and torches and men’s toiletries are being sought.
Tools for fixing bikes are also being sought.
Another convoy is going to Greece and any items for women and children will be sent there.
It’s recommended that cash donations be made online to the Ireland Calais Refugee Solidarity at gofundme.com
