« BackKerry farmer charged with threatening to kill Gardai sent forward for trial

A Kerry sheep farmer charged with possessing a fire arm and threatening to kill or harm two gardai has been sent forward for trial at the Circuit Criminal Court in Tralee

47 year old John Joe Kissane of Eirk, Muckross, Killarney, is charged with two separate counts of possessing a Winchester .270 rifle with intent to kill or cause serious harm to Kenmare Gardai, Garda Denis O’Brien and Garda Sean O’Regan.

The charges relate to an alleged incident on the accused man’s farm near Molls Gap on January 16th.

He was charged under Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences against the Person Act.

Gardai served the book of evidence at today’s sitting of Kenmare District Court.

Mr Kissane’s solicitor Mr Padraig O’Connell made a new application for bail which was again granted subject to a number of conditions.

Mr Kissane has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The case has been sent forward to the next sittings of the Circuit Criminal Court in Tralee.
