A celebration night was held in Killarney last Friday night, recognising the achievements of two Kerry men after wins at the Grand Prix Irish Poker Festival held in the INEC Killarney this month.
Richie Lawlor took the World Poker Tour title and a winners cheque of €65,000 while Peter Cahill took down the Grand Prix title winning €35,000.
Richie from Lixnaw became the first Irish player to win a WPT title.
Peter Cahill from Killarney said that he is going to put his winnings towards buying a property in Killarney.
Con O’Sullivan, owner of the Cue Club poker room with whom both men are members said for a small club, it’s a remarkable achievement to walk away with the 2 major titles.
