Kerry County Council is asking the public to report irresponsible dog owners living in their area.
Over the coming weeks, the council’s dog wardens will be randomly calling to the homes of dog owners who live in estates throughout Kerry.
They’ll be imposing on-the-spot fines of a hundred Euro, on owners who don’t have licences for their dogs, as well as 150 Euro fines on those who fail to clean up dog mess.
Council Veterinary Officer Paddy Fenton, says estates have been earmarked as areas where dog owners often allow their pets to leave their mess, without cleaning up after them.
He’s urging members of the public to ring the council’s Environmental Office at (066) 7162000, if they wish to report a neighbour who’s an irresponsible dog owner:
