Kerry County Council has begun issuing ‘Notice to Treat’ to landowners in relation to upgrade of the N86 Dingle – Camp road.
This requests landowners to enter into discussions regarding the acquisition of the property.
The N86 Road Improvement Scheme comprises of remaining sections: Dingle to Annascaul (16.5km) and Gortbreagoge to Camp (11.5km).
The upgrade of the Annascaul – Gortbreagoge section has already been completed.
Planning permission for the proposed €65 million realignment was originally granted by An Bord Pleanála in 2014. The scheme came to a halt however when heritage body An Taisce launched legal challenges to the works.
The Commercial Court subsequently refused An Taisce leave to appeal the decision to grant approval for the N86 upgrade to proceed.
According to Kerry County Council, it is hoped – subject to receipt of Transport Infrastructure Ireland approval – that Tender for the Works will be published shortly.
The first ‘Notices to Treat’ have issued to landowners in the Lispole to Baile na Saoir Lower section and also between Ballygarret and Camp where advance works are planned in the coming months.
