Kerry County Council is being called on to protect replanted marram grass.

Banna Beach Sandunes

Marram grass growing in sand dunes can help in the fight against coastal erosion.

Councillor Toireasa Ferris raised the issue at the recent meeting of Tralee Municipal District, calling on the local authority to provide netting to protect replanted marram grass at Banna and Fenit beaches.

She says people are walking on the freshly planted marram grass, and she believes netting would prevent this happening and give it a chance to grow.
