« BackKerry charity event raises over €35k for cancer research

A Kerry charity event has raised over €35,000 for cancer research.

The Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk took place in Kenmare in July.

Photo: Don MacMonagle   Now in its 10th year the Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk is a fundraising event that has gone from strength to strength contributing over €600,000 to Cork Cancer Research Centre helping researchers to translate lab discoveries into new cancer treatment opportunities for poor prognosis and incurable cancers. The three day walk along the scenic Kerry Way takes walkers from Caherdaniel, along the Kenmare River and finishing in the Killarney area on Sunday. The event attracted over 330 walkers from across the country.

The money raised goes to Breakthrough Cancer Research, a research organisation based at University College Cork.

It researches cancers with poor prognosis such as ovarian, pancreatic, lung and oesophagael cancers.
