Reverend Michael Cavanagh, the Rector of St Patrick’s Church of Ireland in Kenmare, is the chairman of the Thomas F Meagher Foundation, which aims to promote pride in and respect for the Irish flag.
He was speaking after images were published of Irish supporters at the Euros in France with tricolours which have slogans and pictures on them.
One which emerged yesterday has a picture of the Child of Prague with Kerry Deputy Danny Healy-Rae’s head superimposed onto it, referring to his recent comments about climate change.
