A Kerry business leader has warned increased parking charges could be detrimental to the county’s economy.
Kate O’Leary, President of the Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce says any increase in charges – or the introduction of new charges – could have a negative effect on local business and could be off-putting to visitors.
It’s understood Kerry County Council is reviewing parking charge structures across the county at present – the issue was raised at the Killarney Municipal District meeting yesterday.
Ms O’Leary says what’s needed is an increase in spaces and in some cases, a barrier system for paid-parking:
