A Kerry adventurer plans to trace the footsteps of Antarctic explorers Ernest Shackleton and Tom Crean 100 years ago.
This time, Mike O’Shea is inviting a member of the public to join The Ice Project team, which is heading to the island of South Georgia in November in a 60ft expedition yacht from the Falklands – a round trip of over 1,800 miles.
They will climb two unnamed peaks, one of which O’Shea hopes to name after an Irish explorer, in the four-week trail.
But the Beaufort native warns this is not a holiday or a cruise. As well as raising €15,000, the successful applicant will also need to have some experience.
