« BackKelly welcomes end of roaming charges

Sean Kelly MEP

MEP for Ireland South Seán Kelly has welcomed the decision by the Council of the European Union to end mobile roaming charges.

New rules adopted on Thursday will end the practice whereby mobile operators can charge their customers extortionate fees for using their mobile phones abroad.

The new rules, which only apply to using a mobile phone in another EU country, are expected to come into effect in November.

Mr Kelly said Net Neutrality will also ensure access to internet without any interference – like blocking or slowing down by internet providers.
