« BackKCC to be allowed ask all householders how they dump rubbish

Legislation is in the pipeline to allow Kerry County Council ask every householder how they dump their rubbish.

Director of Services John Breen said the council has already surveyed tenants in their own housing stock and this was a very useful exercise.
John Breen’s comments were part of a debate following a motion by Cllr Norma Foley at the meeting of the Tralee Municipal District who called for more covert CCTV and signage to tackle illegal dumping on the Short Mountain.
Cllr Foley said the local authority needs to buy as many roving CCTV cameras as possible.
The council said new cameras are to be purchased in the near future and will definitely be used in the Short Mountain.
Cllr Graham Spring said the greatest deterrent for those who dump rubbish illegally is for successful prosecutions to be publicised in the local media.
