Kerry County Council has issued a statement into the first tendering process for the Muckross Road project in Killarney.
That document listed Danny Healy-Rae as one of the entities who tendered for the project initially but when it was re-advertised due to an error his name does not appear.
Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae who operates Healy-Rae Plant Hire Limited says it was the company that applied in the first tender process adding it would be impossible for his father Danny to do so as he would not have the necessary insurances etc.
Kerry County Council has carried out an initial review of the case and in a statement to Radio Kerry News this evening it has confirmed that the supporting documentation for the tender is from Healy-Rae Plant Hire Limited and that the tender was from the company.
The local authority says its online system for tenders has a database of pre-qualified suppliers and on the database Danny Healy-Rae was the name registered for Healy-Rae Plant Hire and is why Danny’s name was on the database generated reports.
The council says the database was updated late last year and following receipt of new documentation from its suppliers, the system was updated to refer to ‘Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd.’
