« BackJury begins deliberations at Kerry murder trial

A jury at the Central Criminal Court in Tralee has begun its deliberations at the trial of a man accused of murdering a Brazilian man at a North Kerry bog over two years ago.

The jury of nine men and four women retired to consider their verdict just after 12 o’clock.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy told them that whatever verdict they returned, they would have to be unanimous in their decision.

22-year-old John Paul Cawley of 2 Ardougther, Ballyduff denies murdering 28-year-old Bruno Lemes de Sousa at Shronowen Bog, Listowel between February 16th and 17th, 2012.

The jury can find him guilty or not guilty of murder, or not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility.
