A medal collection from a legendary Kerry footballer has been sold at auction for €40,000.
Joe Barrett from Tralee passed away in 1952.
His collection of 22 medals included All Irelands, Munster Senior Titles, National League, the Railway Cup and an inter county medal for football and hurling.
There was also a War of Independence medal following Barrett’s time as an Irish Volunteer.
The lot was described as “a collection of a lifetime” and was sold to a phone bidder at the auction held in Kilkenny.
