The Government’s new privately operated social welfare programme is to begin in Kerry in November.
Job Path is a work activation programme for the long term unemployed who will be assigned a personal advisor by a private company.
The company operating the programme in Kerry is Turas Nua.
It is a replica of work activation programmes in the UK which have attracted some criticism and accusations of the privatisation of social welfare.
Each social welfare recipient will be in the programme for 52 weeks.
The department would not confirm how many long term unemployed in Kerry will be part of the Job Path programme.
