That’s according to the President of IT Tralee, Dr Oliver Murphy whose was speaking as 1,000 students from 30 countries graduate from the college.
Dr Murphy says the third level sector has experienced major cutbacks in recent years, staff numbers have been cut and facilities need to be refurbished.
He says the issue of proper funding for the higher education area cannot be kicked down the road any longer and the Cassells report needs to be acted on:
Meanwhile, the President of IT Tralee says the other key issue facing the college is the progression of the Munster Technological University, which will see the college merge with Cork Institute of Technology.
