A pilot project has been launched at the Institute of Technology Tralee focusing on the area of consent in sexual activity.
The project, Promoting Consent In Sexual Encounters, is being run by the college, the Kerry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre and the HSE.
A survey by the Union of Students in Ireland found 20 per cent women and 7 per cent of men reported some sort of unwanted sexual experience.
Staff and volunteer student peers are being trained and will then deliver a mandatory workshop for first year students.
