« BackIT Tralee lecturers on work to rule ahead of student exams

TUI lecturers at the Institute of Technology, Tralee have engaged in a work to rule that is affecting students preparing for end of year exams.

ITTThe issue relates to a dispute between the members of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland and the institute over student complaint procedures.

According to an email to the IT Tralee student body from the students’ union president, lecturers are not providing feedback to students on dissertations, projects or assessments.

IT Tralee Students’ Union President, Ben Slimm described the work to rule, which began yesterday, as a frustrating and worrying development for many students at this time of year.

He said that he will work to resolve it as soon as possible.

The institute’s authorities have not responded to requests for comment and the Teachers’ Union of Ireland has said it is not commenting at this time.
