In Baile na nGall, a small parade was hosted outside Tigh TPs by the seaside at midnight.
In Dingle the parade – led by the Dingle Fife & Drum Band – began at 6am with a rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann at Ashmount Terrace.
The dawn spectacle culminated at 7am in St Mary’s Church where the band marched up the church.
The practice dates back to the Land War era when music was banned on St Patrick’s Day which led to locals hosting a parade before sunrise.

Dingle’s second St Patrick’s Day parade gets underway at 12.45pm today at the old hospital grounds.
Milltown’s parade is due to get underway around now (10am).
