Ireland needs to move to secure future energy supplies post-Brexit.

That’s the view of Ireland South Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly who was attending last night’s session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The Kilcummin native says liquid natural gas is this country’s best bet but warns the Corrib gas field will only last for a relatively few years.

The European Commission is backing the development of an LNG terminal at Ballylongford on the Shannon Estuary.

Mr Kelly says the time for action on this is right now:
