INMO members at St Mary of the Angels Beaufort have voted unanimously in favour of strike action.
It’s in response to proposed changes to staff rosters at the facility which is run by St John of God’s Kerry and employs 220 people.
Yesterday management said they’ve been talking about changes for two and a half years, and despite the threat of strike action, a new roster must be introduced.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, which represents 40 staff, will formally serve notice of the strike today, with action set to start on the 2nd of May.
Michael Dineen of the INMO says however that they’re available for talks in the intervening period.
Meanwhile SIPTU, which represents approximately 100 staff at St Mary of the Angels Beaufort, is holding a meeting with their staff this evening.
